I was trying to use this as a make-shift oven... There is a 14shallow and a 12 deep under the tub. Coals are under the 14 (in the "oil drain pan") and of top of the 14/under the 12.

The bricks are to hold the tub up off the oil pan to let air in... looking straight into the gap you can see right across the top of the 14 and the coals there.

The 14 boiled a bit too much (too many coals under it), but the 12 wouldn't... there were probably 14+ coals around the top edge of the 14.
I could rest my hand on the top of the tub... warm but not hot to the touch.

I was expecting this to work like the camp chef fabric oven domes.

Is this a concept that can be tweaked or should I abandon it?
Any body got a concept for a redneck oven?

I wonder if the tub dissipates too much heat to be effective. It sounds like there is plenty of heat available from the coals, just not enough captured by the dome. Not sure how to fix that without a complicated effort.

I was trying to replicate the function of the camp chef dome.
Besides being made out of fabric, the camp chef dome is too small to fit over the amount of iron I am trying to fit in it.
