Homemade Macaroni & Cheese

2 Tbs Corn Starch or Flour
1 Tsp salt
½ Tsp dry mustard (opt’l)
¼ Tsp pepper
2 ½ Cups 2% milk
2 Tbs margarine or butter
2 cups shredded Cheddar or American cheese (divided)
1 pkg. Cream Cheese (softened)
8oz Elbow or Small shells Macaroni (boiled 7-8 minutes and drained)
1 2.8oz bag Real Bacon Pieces or 1/3 cup fine diced ham (optional)

Topping:
1 stick melted butter or margarine
1+ cup seasoned bread crumbs
1 teaspoon garlic powder

For topping, melt butter in small pan or 6” camp oven. Add bread crumbs and garlic powder and mix. Remove from heat and set aside.

Place 12” camp oven over 8-10 coals. Add milk, flour, salt, pepper, dry mustard and stir. Add butter while stirring constantly until almost boiling. Add bacon pieces or ham (if desired), 1 ¾ cups of shredded cheese and cream cheese until melted. Remove from heat and stir in macaroni and smooth out mixture. Add remaining shredded cheese and top with buttered bread crumbs. Bake at 350° (8 coals below, 16 on top) for 20-25 minutes.

Life is uncertain....eat dessert first....preferably one cooked in a Dutch Oven.

Jim, do you use parchment paper? I guess the real question is clean up difficult after baking cheese in the DO?
