Cool Sunday, April 13th @ 1:30 PIZZA D.O.G. in Humboldt County, CA

Wood fired oven is on site. If you want to join us for a meal featuring pizza, PM me for further info/directions. The FDOS is hosting their monthly gathering at a member's home--invited guests are welcome to attend. Pizzas are being cooked in cast iron and the oven. Mamma mia, we got tasty pizza!

Pizza Challenge was a great success!! The weather was absolutely gorgeous and the food was fabulous. We had a variety of artisan pizzas: including > pulled pork, taco, cheeseburger, pizza monkey bread, ravioli filling, bacon & smoked cheese. Reminding myself about last year, we paced our eating and slices accordingly.

We did two pizzas the same (bacon & smoked cheese) One was cooked in the wood fire oven directly on the brick and the other in a cast iron skillet. Our consensus was that the cast iron gave us the crust we liked the best.

Kewl Green We are still going strong and cooking outdoors here in Northwestern California. Members change, with some moving out, and new ones coming in, so we decided to rename our group the Humboldt Dutch Oven Society, located on the coast of California. We have members from the same general area, Fortuna & Eel River Valley, as well as Eureka, and invite new folks to come join us.

We just had our annual Pizza D.O.G this past weekend and there was no shortage of slices. Members created some new ones including a breakfast pizza, S'Mores pizza, a chicken-pesto one, shrimp scampi pizza, and a pulled pork with oranges. The toppings and creativity of our cooks was exceptional!

The next gathering is open to the public and will be held on a Saturday in Eureka's Sequoia Park, June 24th. Please PM me for more information on this event.
