A fundraiser for the Paradise Boys and Girls Clubs and the Gold Nugget Museum will be held August 14, 2010 at the museum grounds in Paradise, CA. The noon to dark event will feature a DO cook-off with judging at 3 pm (DO cooks can come in at 10 am to set up and start cooking), a chuck wagon bbq feed with a cowboy poetry contest in the evening. It will be a three pot cook-off with a plaque and $100 prize for 1st place in each category. This sounds like a fun day up out of the valley heat.

For more info, entry forms, etc, contact Steve "Woody" Culleton at 530-521-1984 (cell) 530-877-9736 (home) or email moesteve@concast.net

Hey Dave, this isn't very far from Grass Valley! Hope to see some of you No. Cal folks there.

How did "thedukes" do today??

I had a catering job today and could not make it there to cook or to spout poetry.

I hope "Woody" had a crowd in Paradise and that the fundraisng raised some funds.

Let us know how things went.

The cook-off went well. There were 10 teams and a very good turnout of the public. We served 80 samples for peoples choice and ran out so they sold more than 80 taster tickets. Also raffle tickets seeemed to sell well so I guess the fund raising part went well.

Woody and his crew did a great job of organizing and that museum is a great location for a cook-off.

Things went well for The Dukes cooking team. We won first place judging for our dessert (Cardamom Carrot Cake) and 1st place peoples choice for our bread (spinach-onion bread) and 3rd place peoples choice for the dessert. Twas a good day. :Smile 1: Gold Tooth Smile: Wink
